Sweetness

A couple of days ago, I was cruising along Melrose Ave in Hollywood on my way to get a much needed haircut and decided to make a stop in the Johnny Cupcakes store to see what was new.

To my surprise, there was the man himself, Mr. Johnny Cupcakes. We talked about an old venue in my hometown of Salinas/ Prunedale called Jim Dandys. It was a small small....small venue right off the 101 HWY that a lot of bands used to stop at on their way to/ from San Francisco. One of these bands just happened to be Johnny's old band On Broken Wings. A ton of good memories there at Jim Dandys with Evergreen Terrace, Bleeding Through, Throwdown, Norma Jean, Me Without You, Eighteen Visions, and tons more when they were just starting up. But alas it is now a used car lot....hmm as most places seem to be these days.

Anywho, it was awesome to finally meet Johnny, and thanx so much for making me a guest on your blog. If anyone is interested (and you should be) head over to Johnny Cupcakes to check out the blog and his "sweet" online store!

ONE final note, we here at Seven Grand have two NEW shirts dropping this Monday September 1st! They are awesome and come with a FREE Compilation CD of all our good friend's bands. Click HERE to order yours today!

From LA to tha Bay

This past weekend, my girlfriend Michelle and I took a trip up North to San Francisco with a stop in the Prunedale /Salinas/Monterey area. It was an awesome time! We got to see friends, family, the aquarium, and most of the SF bay as well as a sweet baseball game in which the Giants killed the Padres!

We started off with a cruise around the Elkhorn Slough. Right in my backyard!
Then we stopped by Alex's place in Marina for a quick visit.....

...and a tattoo. 1 skull for Prunedale/ Salinas, and 1 skull for LA

Then we ventured to Monterey and hit up the Monterey Bay Aquarium! Thanks Lee for hookin it up!

Oh yes, the aquarium has everything: gifts, water, nachos, and penguins!
Crusin still some more, we hit up Asilomar near Pebble Beach. Beautiful ocean air.

Night life in Salas and the 831, hangin with some of my best friends outside of the Salinas Bowling Alley: (let to right) Me, Michelle, Blake, Clay, and Andrew.

Oh good night back home, and then we got up early for breakfast with my dad and brother, and soon ventured up to San Francisco. Home of the Giants and Rice a Roni!

We saw some music in the park and talked to a very nice dude that gave us some hints on good bars in the area!

Took a peak at the Bay Bridge leading to Oakland.

And soon enough it was time for the night life! Balloons at the awesome Minna Gallery in downtown SF.

Katie and Michelle gettin thirsty at the Minna!

Sunday was awesome! We were originally suppose to meet with Aaron, Nate, Mikey, and Lee just to tail-gate and then be on our way, but oh no we decided to join them for the Giants game and pound a few tall boys before hand!

At the game wearing the NEW "Party Squid" shirt, which will be out next week on September 1st!

And then we had some great pizza after the game thanx to Aaron, and took a sweet group pic with all of the Giants beer cups we had collected/drank throughout the day! One for everybody!

It certainly was an eventful weekend. Friends, family, and lots of sun and beer. What could be greater than this!

In the coming weeks Seven Grand will be working on some sweet new gear for the Fall '08 Season, and will also be putting TWO NEW shirts on sale Monday September 1st "HUGE Fear" and the "Party Squid" shirts which come with a FREE compilation CD of all our BFF bands and can be ordered by clicking HERE!

Random Pics

As I was walking up Highland towards Hollywood Blvd yesterday after class, I saw this "bum sign" and had to take a pic of it.

Sometimes I don't mind funny signs and whatnot, but when it involves drug use and things of this nature....not as funny. Anyhow, I thought it was interesting nonetheless.

Now, here is a cool picture. I was at my girlfriends house and took this pic with my camera/phone. No photoshop at all the flash from my phone caught the dog's eyes perfectly.

Drunk dogs, let this be a lesson to you. Drink beer and get fire eyes!

Im Warped Out!

So, I had the privilege of going to the Carson, CA stop of the 2008 Vans Warped Tour this past Sunday. I went not only as a fan, but a representative of Wide-Eyed magazine. I had an awesome time and was able to interview a bunch of cool bands such as Anberlin, Mayday Parade, and Set Your Goals. I also, was able to use my Press Pass to get right up to the stage and take some awesome pictures!

I am currently going through the pictures, so hopefully I will have some up on here tomorrow for you to check out! Also, I went to the Warped Tour after party down on Melrose here in Hollywood! That was a lot of fun. It was put on by the good fellows at Hopeless Records and consisted of performances by The Brobecks, Love You Long Time, and 3OH!3. I highly suggest that you go check out all of the bands on myspace, they were amazing and tons of fun!

Until I can get those pictures up, here is a few random pictures taken by our friend Trish for your viewing pleasure!

Sweet Cupcake Pics!!!

So, I know I'm a little late on these photos, but they are still sweet as can be (get it, sweet)! On Saturday August 2nd, Johnny Cupcakes opened his first West Coast store right here in LA on Melrose. Let me tell you, though I could only take a few pics with my camera/phone, it was still an amazing site. Both the Johnny Cupcakes site and The Hundreds site have some sweet photos that you can enjoy as well.

These kids rolled up on a Tuesday in their van, four days well before the opening date. One word, DEDICATION!

Check it out! Even Bobby from the Hundreds caught a photo of Michelle and I. I'm on the right side with my arms crossed in the...yes..."Fear of Something Greater" 7K Shirt!
(photo: thehundreds.com)

Kids lined up around the block and into the neighborhood.

And then Johnny made his entrance. Encased in a "special delivery" wooden box, he rolled up in style in this classic pick-up truck.

Getting out of the box and being greeted by fans, friends, and family.
...and a lasting look, surprised look at the police that were cruising by. So many people were there and flooding into the streets that the police momentarily came by to make sure people were on the sidewalk.

Overall, it is always awesome to see someone come out an hang with their fans, and shows them just as much love as they show to his company. Right on Johnny, job well done!

PHood I Have Been Diggin!

Here are some of the foods I have been enjoying over the last couple of weeks. I'm sure its the same for most people, but every once in a while I tend to go through a little "food phase" where just certain foods are great all the time!

Well, up until recently I was a fan of the "Blue Box" if ya know what I mean. Now I must say that I have converted to Velveeta Shells and Cheese. You get a lot more cheese in the noodles.
Next I have been in the mood for the Kettle Style Salt and Vinager chips. I think its because of the hard crunchy-ness of the chips.....either that or I'm pregnant......
Finally, I do enjoy a nice tasty Turkey Sandwich. I usually try to pack one before I head off to school or work. MMMM, just like mom use to make!
Well, that concludes my blog for today. I think I'm a little hungry now...weird...
What are your favorites foods lately? Let us know!

Home Run Treats!

Does anyone remember these tasty little treats? Home Run Pie! They are fruit/jelly filled snakes that were cased by an awesome pastry sort of donut shell. You could pick them up at the grocery store of gas station, usually 2 for a $1 and sometimes 3 for a $1. This one below is Pineapple flavor. I personally liked the Cherry and Chocolate filled ones, mmmmm. Let me know if anyone finds these in your local store, so that I may buy them all!

I am not sure what made me think of these, but I do know I was watching My Name Is Earl, season 2 on DVD yesterday and all of a sudden Home Run Pies started dancing in my mind. Maybe it was because I hadn't eaten yet, or perhaps I was reminiscing about the good days when being a kid consisted of playing in the dirt, watching cartoons, and eating junk food! Yay for being a kid, and yay for Toys R Us, and yay for Home Run Pies!
